Kentucky

Our crew loaded up last week and headed for Bowling Green, Kentucky. This is where my Dad and his wife, Sally live and have lived for two and a half years. We have never made this long of a trip with our four kids. It was work at times, but well worth it to visit with family.

It took us 11 hours on Thursday. We took some time when we stopped to let our kids get a good break from riding. Our favorite place to stop on road trips is always Cracker Barrel. The kids probably don't even know they serve food there, because we never eat there. We use the bathrooms, which are usually nice, and let the kids mess around with the toys. I had several bags full of our favorite Trader Joe's and Whole Foods snacks that we munched on in the van. We stopped to eat in Asheville on the way there. Our favorite restaurant, The Laughing Seed, is always such a treat to visit.

Dad and Sally's home is simply amazing. It sits right by an enormous field just beyond the backyard. It is truly breathtaking. They have a huge home. It felt like we were staying in the Ritz. We were so thankful for the time we were able to be in their home and shown around their town. Sally fixed us vegan food and went above and beyond to meet our needs while we were there. Here are a few pictures. I will post next about where the places they took us.
