Maddie's Day

Madelyn Virginia turned 7 today!  What a day it was.  We did all things Madelyn.  For the kid's birthdays I always fill a bucket and put cards in there for the kids to draw out all throughout the day.  I write things on there like you get to pick a game out to play or you get to take a bath in mom and dad's big bathtub.  Madelyn was eager to draw from the bucket today.  She was also able to make the meal plan.  We get excited about food around here.  Choosing the meals was a thrill for our birthday girl.  Homeschooling caters to these family traditions.  I am thankful to be home with my kids all throughout their special day.

Here are several of Madelyn's birthday moments captured.
The birthday girl requested yellow corn grits, tofu scramble, toast and tea.

We got Maddie several things to encourage her love of writing and doodling.

One of Madelyn's cards in her bucket said that we could go to Duke Gardens to look at the tulips.  It was chilly, but gorgeous.

This photo turned out great.  It totally captures our sweet Madelyn.  We are so thankful for this little girl.

She received many birthday wishes from loved ones.

A couple of neighbors, Karina and Elley came over in their pajamas and ate with us and watched Finding Nemo (the movie Mads chose) with us.

For dessert, Madelyn chose a strawberry "milk"shake.  I used Silk Strawberry Soy Delicious (vegan ice cream), vanilla soymilk and fresh strawberries.  It turned out well.
