Daddy Days

Summertime is always so sweet because the kids and I get to see more of Scott. He is around for more elaborate breakfasts, ticklefests, and teaching cool tricks (on a bike) and skills (on the recorder, chess, checkers, computer games, and reading). Of course, there are many more reasons why we love when he is home.

He has been able to plant a small garden here in our backyard. He planted tomatoes, peppers, okra and cucumber. We are testing out this climate to see what grows well. Obviously, it is quite different having a garden here in the 90 degree heat vs. the cool upper 70's of Boone. Someone give me a tissue. Anyways, the garden is doing very well. We have been eating on some fabulous cucumbers. Scott does a great job. He has the green thumb around here.

Mr. College of Education at the University of North Carolina will begin classes in late August . In the meantime, he has been going out and about trying to get adjusted to the campus. He has also been reading several books that he is interested in within education and cultural studies. Many of these books are actually ones that are required for him to read in the fall. Scott is a good planner. He doesn't do anything half way. He gives it his best. We are excited, yet nervous, about this transition into the fall for our family. We are all trying to soak up quality time with him now.
