Granola

I believe granola would be a type of food that people would associate us with because we are vegan. Indeed, we do like it and make it! Years ago, two of my friends gave me a recipe to try. I will pass it on to you all.

The kids and I made a batch this week. It is a fun process and yummy reward.

Granola

10 cups of rolled oats
1/2 c golden flaxseed (you can grind that up or put in whole)
1/2 slivered almonds
1 1/2 c raisins
1/4 c sesame seeds

1/3 c brown sugar
2/3 c canola oil
2/3 c honey
2 tbsp vanilla

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Prepare two large baking sheets by pouring a little oil in the the middle and greasing the bottom. I use two large pizza pans. Get out a large mixing bowl and a smaller one. Put oats, flaxseed, slivered almonds, raisins, and sesame seeds in large mixing bowl and stir. Then, mix together your brown sugar, canola oil, honey, and vanilla in the other bowl. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl. Mix that together for several minutes with a large spoon.

Put pan or pans into the oven. Set a timer for 5 minutes. When the timer sounds, pull out the pan and move the oats around so they will not burn. Do this two more times for a total of 15 minutes baking time. Do not let it bake any longer than this.

Enjoy!
